If you don't know who Solid Snake is then here is the man himself in a few screenshots I found:
<-------Snake in the submarine pod.
A sharp sound ripped through the submarine and lights flashed. Snake clenched his teeth as it vibrated widly and he was thrown off course. He winced as it scraped a nearby wall. His codec rang and he answered it immediately.
"Snake, watch out!" Roy Cambell's terrified voice rang through his ears like thunder and Snake couldn't help but grimace and grind his teeth together.
"What's going on? What's wrong with the sub?" Snake growled, shaking as it collided with another wall and water began to drip on his toes.
"It's hit! Water's coming in! And, there's a large wall up ahead. I'm gone, Colonel. I'm sorry," Snake shouted, as he fell forward and the pod smashed into a cement wall, causing fire to rage through the water and the terrorists to jump aside fearfully for their lives. One's leg caught on fire and he ran around screaming, flailing his arms.
Roy Cambell screamed.
The codec was fuzzy. Snake was gone. He was surely dead. They failed. And,
now, the world was doomed to have an ultimate weapon firing assuredly at
any location it wanted to. And, killing all that had been thrown into humanity.
Gabrielle jumped and clung to Xena's arm. "What was that, Xena?"
"I don't know. But, I'm going to find out. You hold Argo. I'm going to check it out," the warrior drawled, her swift hand moving with grace and easily arming herself with her sword. She twirled it so it fit in her hand correctly and disappeared behind the trees ahead of the young bard.
She warily stepped forward
and the man groaned, his leg rising up so that his knee strung high in
the air. Xena put her sword under the man's chin. "Who are you?"
The man grunted and his hands pushed the sword away. He stepped up and surveyed his surroundings. The warrior could make out beady hazel eyes underneath the mask. The face seemed gentle, yet very dangerous. The eyes gave away the threat.
The mask was tossed aside and Xena couldn't help but bite her lip. The man was incredibly handsome. His lean chin curved just under his pursed lips. He was wearing something gray around his head, his black hair strung up above it, standing up in spiky layers. The man gaped at her like she was something from out of this world. The warrior did the same, her face becoming hard and threatening.
"I don't know who you are and where you came from, but you have a lot of explaining to do if you want to live," Xena spoke, her voice rough and dangerous.
The man's back stiffened and he placed a gloved hand on his thigh. A bleeding scar was revealed there. The man seemed not to notice as blood dripped in slow beads onto his fingers that weren't covered with the strange glove.
"I'm suppose to be dead," he murmured, his voice thick and rich. The sound was deep and husky. A voice that Xena often spoke with during sex.
"Where did you come from?" Xena asked, sheathing her sword and inspecting the wound.
"The future. This is definitely not modern times."
Xena frowned. "How am I suppose to believe that you are from the future?"
The man ignored her. "My codec! I have to locate the Colonel!"
Xena's face became ashen and she thought: Is he completely insane?
The man pressed his hand to his ear and then cried out, as if hurt. A small device, the size of the pad of her thumb, fell to the ground.
"Damn! It's broken!" the man cursed, his hands covering his ears. He slowly let go when the ringing in his head faltered.
"Xena? What's going..." Gabrielle's moss green eyes focused on the man and she put her hand to her mouth. "Sweet Aphrodite."
Xena placed her hand on the younger woman's shoulder and blue eyes found green. "Hey. It's all right. He's not here to hurt us. He claims he's from the future."
The man stepped forward and put one beefy hand on Xena's shoulder and the other on the young bard's. "I am from the future. Tell me how to get out of this place! Tell me how to get my normal life back!" He raged, squeezing Xena's shoulder so hard she yanked away in pain. Even the pads covering them could not abate that icy grip he contained.
"Look, we're sorry. We don't know how to help you. I think all you can do is accept your surroundings as they are," Gabrielle murmured, strawberry blond hair glistening against the sun.
"Yeah. And, the only high point of this is you both have a great butt," he said, smiling casually.
Gabrielle's mouth opened and she quickly disarmed the man's hand on her shoulder.
"Look, ah..." Xena let her voice trail off, hoping to get a name. She raised an eyebrow as a clue.
"Snake. Solid Snake.
But, I doubt you have heard of me."
"Well, Snake, it's unfortunate we haven't. I want you to travel with us for awhile. Maybe you can help us accomplish things we are not worthy of. I'm sure a man like you has many skills?"
"Naturally," he answered, separating his feet and leaving his hands to his sides.
"First, my friend here
is going to treat that wound of yours. It's not big enough to put real
worry into, but it's a wound all the same. Gabrielle?"
Gabrielle turned to
her lover and smiled warmly. "Yeah, all right. I'll take care of him. Just
as long as he refused to make any more comments about my 'great butt'."
Xena raised an eyebrow
and turned to Snake. "You heard the demand. Do you accept?"
"Willingly? No. A woman
deserves a wondrous compliment once in awhile. But, if it offends, of course
I accept. I always treat the ladies as they should be accompanied for."
Xena smiled and patted Snake's shoulder. The fabric he wore was soft on her palm, but rough on her fingertips. She squinted her eyes.
"It's a sneaking suit.
Even in this lifetime you would find one of these very companiable. Maybe
I will let you find use for it sometime."
Xena smiled. "I'd like
that. For now, I'm going to scout ahead. Make sure Draco isn't on our tail."
"Draco?" Snake questioned, his face a puzzled expression.
"Gabrielle will tell you more about him. All I can say is he is a ruthless warrior in search of the gem I have tucked away safely between my breasts. If he shall posses it, he'd become a very rich man. It's pretty much all he cares about. Becoming rich. Ruling the world. He's a lot like what I used to be."
With that, she walked away.
Snake turned to the younger woman and frowned.
"I don't understand it either. But, I've learned she works in mysterious ways," the woman murmured, smiling quizically.
"Is that so? Then, that woman and I have a lot in common," Snake announced, pressing his left hand to the unwounded thigh.
"Then, there is much to learn about you, as well. Come on. Let's patch you up. Xena won't be long. Maybe a half hour or less. It depends how fast Draco is moving. I'm sure he's far enough away so that we can camp here for the night," the blond said, taking his gloved hand and squeezing it. "Leather, huh? Yeah. You two do have a lot in common."
"We know they have that gem. Xena has made it very clear. I want men to scout ahead to see where she is keeping it. I know her. She's hidden it somewhere safe. Somewhere not obvious to the human mind. Find it and report back to me," Draco said, staring hard at the soldier he was talking to.
Xena hurried back to
Gabrielle and their newfound allie, Solid Snake.
"Yeah?"
"I only feel truly alive
when I am on the battlefield. We're very different from each other. If
I'm with you won't I just be putting you in danger? I'm a trained, professional
killer."
Gabrielle smiled reluctantly.
"But, you also have a heart of gold. You don't want to see me hurt."
His face darkened. "I don't want to see any women die right in front of me."
She sighed. She'd have to work on his ego a little to calm his nerves. "Well, then I am sure you will put my life in front of your own," she said, continuing to stitch the gaping wound showing on his thigh. The whole mass of this man was strength and talent. Just like Xena. Perhaps stronger? Maybe. She hadn't seen this callous man in action yet. But, she was sure she would soon.
"I'm not putting anyone's life in front of mine until I found out why I'm here," he answered coldly, turning his head to the side, hiding his wince as Gabrielle stitched deeper into the wound than she should have.
She cut the string with
her teeth. "There. All set."
"Thanks. What's for dinner anyway? I managed to smuggle my smokes after Naomi strip searched me, but they won't settle for long."
"Your smokes?" Gabrielle asked, her face becoming puzzled.
Snake reached into his pocket and pulled out his cigarettes. Gabrielle reached for them but he held them back.
"Look, these things are dangerous. You don't want to get involved with them," he said in a matter-of-fact tone.
Gabrielle narrowed her
eyes. "If they're so dangerous then why are you 'smuggling' them?"
"The nicotine soothes my soul. It helps me relax."
"Nicotine? I guess you really are from the future. Tell me more about this nicotine," Gabrielle said, straightening herself and then sitting next to Snake, curiously cocking her head as he explained.
"Nicotine is the drug located in this cigarette. It's highly addictive, with just one drag you ache for more. It's also deadly. Too much of this little smoke and your lungs turn ashen and you come down with a cancer, which kills you in the end."
Gabrielle's brows furrowed. "It sounds very dangerous. Perhaps you should put it away?"
"Just let me devour one. Please," he said, the last word a hint of a plea.
"All right. But, please
don't get too carried away. How long have you been using those?"
He frowned. "A couple years. Listen, you're right. I should stop. Here. You hang onto these. Hide them somewhere safe. Don't let me see them."
Gabrielle took the package and walked off to where he could no longer see her. He took out his scope as she walked away and focused on her backside. The girl was quite lovely. Yet... innocent. Didn't seem like the kind that was aching for a man. It seemed quite clear that Gabrielle and the warrior had a sexual history. One that he shouldn't interfere with. He tucked away the scope and finished his smoke just as Xena returned from her exploration.
The horse whinnied as she dropped down from it and walked over to Snake.
"Welcome back. Gabrielle went to hide my smokes," he said, placing his hands together and pressing them inbetween his knees.
"Huh?" Xena asked, looking down at him incredulously.
"Nevermind. She'll be returning shortly. So tell me. What's the relationship between you two? I think I've seen enough to know not to hit on either of you," he said, sitting back as the warrior bent down towards him, her blue eyes icy.
"What business of it is yours?" she asked, squinting those majestic eyes.
Snake recoiled and then quickly recovered, standing up so he was face level with the tough broad. "Only that I'm traveling with two hot women that I'm deeply attracted to. I think I should know on those grounds whether they have something going on or not. Come on, warrior. I can see it in your damn eyes."
Xena gripped his collar with her hands and yanked him forward so his face was inches from hers. He had to get used to this. All the other times this had happened it had been him pulling the person forward. And, now, it was some tough warrior doing it to his own body. Strange.
"You have got a lot of nerves. I don't want to know about you or your feelings," she said, her voice a large threat.
"Lighten up, would you?
I was just curious."
"Curiosity killed the cat, didn't it, Snake?" she answered, her grip tightening, causing him to wince, despite the layer that the suit provided from harm.
"Yeah, it did. But, satisfaction brought him back. I bet you didn't know that one, did you, warrior?" he growled, removing her hands from his suit and straightening it.
"My name is Xena. Are we clear?"
Snake pressed a hand to his side. "Sure. We're clear."
She smiled sweetly and patted the top of his head. "Good. I'm going to catch us dinner. What do you like? Trout? Bass? Eel?"
Snake grinned. "Eel, huh? Never tried that one. I'll take trout."
"What's going on?" Gabrielle asked, a bundle of firewood in her hand. She tossed the heap to the ground and stepped next to Xena, sending a friendly smile at Snake.
"I'm going to collect dinner. Staying or coming?" Xena asked, smiling down at her bard.
Gabrielle glanced over at Snake, who shrugged his shoulders.
"I guess I'll go with you. Maybe you can teach me that fancy method of yours. The catching fish one."
Xena grinned. "I thought you hated fish. They'd slip right through your fingers and they're slimly and... yucky, as you put it."
Gabrielle slapped the warrior's shoulder. "Stop teasing me. Let's get going before I end up smacking you across the face."
"Well, she's got spunk," Snake observed, grinned broadly at the two.
Gabrielle grinned back. "So do you, Snake. We'll be back."
"All right. I'll start the fire. Sound okay?"
"Perfect," Xena said.
He watched them go and
then dug a place for the fire. It took him five minutes to have one made
and ready. The wood Gabrielle had collected caught easily with the two
matches he used. The fire burned bright in two minutes. He watched the
flames as they danced across the darkening air. Night was fast approaching.
"He's a real piece of work," Xena murmured, cocking her head.
"What do you mean?"
"Just that I don't trust him yet. He's a trained killer. I can tell just by the looks of him."
"Yes, he told me that," Gabrielle said, clasping her hands together. "But, I think I can change him."
"Don't be so sure. And,
also, so quick to judge."
The water splashed as Xena caught a trout and tossed it to Gabrielle, who caught it and killed it with Xena's dagger. It stopped squirming immediately.
"Xena, he just seems like he has a soul of goodness inside of him. I talked to him. He was nice to me."
"I'm watching him," another rustle and another trout killed.
Once she had caught everything the three needed, Xena got out of the water and kneel down in front of Gabrielle. She kissed the bard's cheek warmly.
"Xena, I'm sorry. I can't help my judgement. The way he uses his tongue seems proper."
Xena leaned forward and pecked the younger woman's lips.
"You've only known him for an hour and ten minutes and you can't stop talking about him. I'm jealous," the warrior murmured, kissing a trail along her younger lover's neck. She smiled when the bard's breath caught.
"There's no need to be jealous. You know I am faithful to you," Gabrielle said, placing her hands on her lover's cheeks and kissing her lips softly and slowly.
Xena kissed back and
rubbed Gabrielle's stomach, her tongue entwining with the bard's in a slow,
taunting melody. Breathless, the warrior pulled back and got to her feet.
"Let's head back. Don't want to keep your new obsession waiting."
Gabrielle shot her lover
an annoyed look. "Yeah, yeah."
Gabrielle pulled out
a frying pan and they cooked the fish.
